Generic professional competencies for this position:

• Experience from working as teacher trainer
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Fluency in English/French and Arabic, both written and verbal

Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):

• University degree in Education/Pedagogy;
• Extensive experience in teaching elementary classes or special education classes
• Experience developing teacher training
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and team working skills
• Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
• Knowledge of NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
• Strong documentation, research and report writing skills.
• Knowledge and relevant experience in child protection issues.
• Experience in designing and presenting training programs
• Experience in participatory programs.
• Experience in community sensitization/ mobilization.

Job Description:

• Participate in design and implementation of education assessments (i.e. teachers training needs, students’ participation, school management, parents/community involvement in education etc…)
• Participate in design of training programs based on needs assessments
• Participate to development of training module, both in English and Arabic
• Following a set workplan, conduct teacher training and technical capacity building of assistants
• Assist the technical coordinator in organizing and delivering trainings and workshops
• Carry out teacher coaching and follow up
• Carry out teacher observation and class visits
• Carry out spot check review of lesson plan
• Support the interviewing of new teachers
• Review of curriculum and objectives scope and sequence
• Attending all workshops and trainings organized for educators and teachers or staff
• Coordinating and following up on teaching material
• Ensure an integrating programming approach with other fields
• Support the development of M&E tools and systems to measure and analyse learning outcomes and to guide programmatic development;
• Support in creating and reviewing tests and assessments tools
• Report weekly & monthly (or more often, if required) on activities and results to the relevant NRC staff.
• Provide timely reports to supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned and agreed upon.
