Job Requirements:        

  • Bachelor of Arts in Agriculture preferably with specialization in Agronomy and Horticulture
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in this or other relevant fields, previous NGO experience is an advantage
  • Excellent reporting skills including computer skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and effectively
  • Organized and flexible, ability to respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative, assess risk and make plans accordingly
  • Fluency in Arabic, Kurdish and good English language skills (spoken and written)
  • Flexible and creative approach with a proven ability to resolve issues and identify solutions
  • Demonstrable high level of interpersonal skills and patience
  • Excellent organizational skills and accuracy
  • Impartiality, objectivity and confidentiality
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally, if necessary

Job Description:

. Program implementation:

  1. Support or undertake technical assessments and prepare BOQs of agricultural items
  2. To work with various local communities and authorities to understand the agricultural systems and cycles specific to region of implementation and to implement ACTED’s Food Security activities in these areas accordingly
  3. To support the Project Manager and work with technical staff in making weekly work plans and field visits
  4. To ensure the quality and efficiency of all field work done relevant to food security aspects of projects.
  5. To submit any relevant paperwork (e.g. Completion documentation, photos) to Project Manager at the end of each day with work summary, or as described by line manager.
  6. To act as a clear and responsible communication channel between ACTED Programs, local communities and beneficiaries.
  7. To conduct, draft and follow up on program assessments and reports
  8. To prepare, check the quality and accuracy of all documents submitted by the field staff (beneficiary lists, reports, analysis, forms etc.)
  9. Support the Project Manager in their work with AMEU.
  10. Be flexible on the working hours depending on the project demands.
  11. Support the registration and selection of beneficiaries through an intensive door-by-door system, ensuring communication, transparency and fairness at all stages of the project and the activity reaches the most vulnerable
  12. Support the distribution process (planning, execution and reporting stages) ensuring the professional and safe conduct by staff at all times and that the distributions are conducted according to the ACTED SOPs
  13. Safety
  14. Ensure timely departure and return from the field of Food Security staff and daily labourers: this includes leaving to the field with all necessary documents and materials to complete a successful workday
  15. Ensure that all Security SOPs are learned and followed by the Food Security team; work closely with ACTED’s HAPS Manager and Senior Security Officer
  16. Reporting
  17. Report on the implementation of activities as per specific program and donor requirements.
  18. To collect photos and documentation of program implementation and ensure that donor visibility is respected.
  19. Maintain an efficient, organized system of paperwork and reporting for field work
  20. Monitor the quality of work done under your supervision and their adherence to ACTED internal policies.
  21. To perform other duties as requested by the project and country management teams.
  22. Professionalism and Personal Qualities
  23. Provide leadership, promote professional working relationships, conflict resolution, and manage project staff effectively.
  24. Organized and flexible, ability to respond to changing priorities and challenging situations
  25. Have a willingness to learn quickly, ask questions, and improve on his/her skills.
  26. Excellent communication, diplomatic and motivational skills with program staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders in the areas of activities.
  27. Strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and problem solve in an unpredictable environment.
